Nyungne is a profound three-day practice that easily accommodates people whose schedules do not permit taking a long-term retreat. Nyungne participants keep strict vows, including complete silence and fasting.  Participants find the practice very helpful for physical and spiritual purification.

The retreat focuses on recitation of prayers and mantras, as well as guided visualization of the Thousand-Armed Chenrezig, the embodiment of all the buddhas' loving-kindness and compassion. Translated as 'abiding in the fast', Nyungne is known to heal illness, nurture compassion, and purify negative karma. A single Nyungne or 'abiding in retreat' for just three days can be as effective purification practices lasting three months.  According to Lama Yeshe, this is an ideal practice for Westerners, and, indeed, it is very popular in the West because of its instant results!

This three-day Nyungne retreat will occur in the beautiful Karma Shedrup Ling retreat center located in the forest on the outskirts of Oslo.  On Saturday, participants will enjoy a light breakfast after which we will fast until Monday morning.  The retreat will be completely silent on Sunday.  On Monday morning, we will break the fast together and the retreat will conclude at 10:00 a.m.

A minimum of eight participants are required for KTLBS to offer the Nyungne retreat.  Retreat teachings will be in English.

Time and place: Friday 10.May at 5.30 pm to Monday 13.May Karma Shedrup Ling Retreat Center
